Our story begins with a certified 1.5-carat diamond ring in a 14-karat white gold setting, priced at a whopping $10,000 from a major retailer. The catch? The certification doesn’t specify who certified the diamond – a significant red flag IMHO. Is it certified by GIA, IGI, AGS, or someone else? Without this clarity … I just wouldn’t purchase it.
But the doubts only increase! Adding to my skepticism is the hefty price tag.
$10,000 for an i1 clarity diamond is … questionable to say the least. To illustrate the potential pitfall in the video I share an example of i1 clarity diamonds that look pretty darn bad.
But … a diamond discovery of mine at James Allen saves the day. I found a 1.5-carat, i1 clarity diamond with an excellent cut, certified by GIA, at the much better price of $3,400.
The most important difference? The appearance is known. And because I searched for and found diamond with the inclusions (flaws) off to the side, and with inclusions (flaws) that are rather gray and not dark, it’s a beautiful find.
This diamond even comes with a detailed certification report, right there linked on the page.
To sweeten the deal, I point out that you can pair this diamond with a 14-karat white gold setting from James Allen for as little as $620. The total cost? Around $4,100, a fraction of the $10,000 for the relatively unknowable diamond over at Kay.
In conclusion, this find is not just about saving money; it’s about making an informed and confident purchase. If that specific diamond is already claimed, don’t worry – I offer personalized, fast, FREE assistance via email to find another diamond that suits your preferences and budget.
