So you’re looking at a Tiffany & Co. Tiffany 0.57-carat Embrace Band diamond ring for $5,500. (All prices are quoted at time of publication.)
Did you know you can get the same or better quality diamond ring for $1,260?
Or for even less, at $990?
See the proof with screen shots here. Learn how. It’s simple when you know.
This design can be gifted as an anniversary ring, a wedding band, or just because. Valentine’s Day is a perfect excuse.
Tiffany’s overpriced offer: $5,500
Look at Tiffany & Co.’s offer here. It’s Tiffany item number GRP00004. It’s $5,500. And it’s a pretty ring, you’ll see as you enjoy looking at it on Tiffany’s website.
But should you have to pay $5,500 for this band ring? In my opinion the vast bulk of that price at Tiffany & Co. is for the name of Tiffany. That means you’re paying for expensive Tiffany & Co. retail rent. For branding advertisement. For the name!
$5,400 is far too much. You can get the same name right now (it won’t last) at Jomashop for $2,730. But that’s not a smart decision either, in my opinion. You’re still paying for the name.
Jomashop’s time-limited, still-overpriced offer: $2,730
If it’s still available (likely not, since Jomashop’s offers are time sensitive), you can see this offer live at Jomashop. (It’s gone, but you can see that it did exist.)

James Allen’s offers a virtually identical, 0.50-carat diamond ring for $1,680.
Jomashop’s discounted price of $2,730 was still too much. You can get virtually the same quality and design of ring for $1,680 at James Allen.

(It’s not a Tiffany brand. But virtually no one will know. And even fewer people will care. The James Allen ring is classic design. It’s extravagant in the gift, not the price.)
And if anyone really was focused on spending $5,500, they could buy additional diamond pieces with the $3,820. That’s how much you save getting this exquisite James Allen ring compared to the overpriced Tiffany & Co. ring.
So with that extra $3,820 you could buy … a bracelet. A pendant. Some earrings. She will prefer the additional, high-quality diamond jewelry much more than a Tiffany blue box.
But for many people, the savings puts exquisite, beautiful, tasteful, elegant diamond jewelry within reach.
And it’s about time.
Thank you James Allen!
Diamond color scores:

Diamond clarity scores:

A design flaw in the Tiffany & Co. ring obstructs light. James Allen’s scalloped mounts solved that problem. Means much more sparkle.
The James Allen ring design is demonstrably better, in my opinion. The diamonds mounted in the James Allen ring will sparkle much better than any in the inferior-design Tiffany ring, because they’ll absorb much more light from the sides.
(Diamonds “work” by allowing light to strike the sides, then flow out of the top. That’s how they sparkle. Think about it: in even the best diamond:
- No light entering the sides, very little sparkle. (Light flows in a round brilliant cut diamond from the sides and bottom up through the top.)
- Less light, less sparkle.
- Less exposed area along the sides = less light entering the diamond.
- James Allen’s innovative design is FAR better than old-school Tiffany & Co.
Do this quick experiment to learn why …
First, look at Tiffany’s inferior design, IMO, which costs $5,400:

Now look at James Allen’s superior design … for $1,260:

James Allen’s even lower offer on a ring with slightly lower diamond quality scores: $1,320.
One of the industry disruptive, efficient innovations at James Allen is their transparency. They tell you what quality scores their diamonds get.
(Tiffany & Co., and many other traditional diamond jewelry retailers, do not always share this information. Hmmm why not?? For example, at the time I checked that overpriced $5,500 ring for this article, I found ZERO mention of quality scores of those diamonds.)
At James Allen, you can select a slightly less high quality diamond ring in this style for $1,320 at time of this publication.
